Our commitment to protecting vulnerable adults
At Naz and Matt Foundation, we take our responsibility to safeguard vulnerable adults extremely seriously.
Our work supporting LGBTQI+ individuals from religious and culturally conservative backgrounds often brings us into contact with people facing complex challenges, including familial abuse, honour-based abuse, and threats to their personal safety.
To ensure we provide the highest standard of care and protection, we have developed a comprehensive Safeguarding, Whistleblowing and Escalations Policy that guides all our work.
Why this policy matters
Many of our clients come to us during times of crisis. Some have experienced rejection from their families, others face threats of forced marriage or conversion therapy, and many struggle with suicide ideation as a result of religious and cultural homophobia.
Our policy provides:
- Clear guidelines for identifying different types of abuse
- Structured procedures for responding to disclosures
- A robust escalation framework to ensure concerns are addressed promptly
- Protection for staff and volunteers who report concerns
- Contact information for both internal and external support resources
