Khakan Qureshi is Founder of Finding A Voice (a social group for LGBTQI+ South Asians), a public speaker and LGBTQI+ Conference Organiser.
We caught up with Khakan and spoke to him about growing up in Birmingham and the acceptance as a gay man he received from his Muslim parents.
We asked him his advice for someone thinking about coming out, and the advice he would give to religious parents struggling to understand or accept their children.
Khakan, how well you express what is for some people an abhorrent situation. You articulate your story and give practical and sensible advice without overbearing sentiment. Your words need to reach a much wider audience. I applaud you.
