We are truly honoured and thankful for Naz and Matt Foundation to have been awarded by IKWRO, the inspirational “Iranian & Kurdish Women’s Rights Organisation”, an award for ‘Outstanding Organisation Tackling “Honour” Based Violence‘ at the #TrueHonourAwards 2019.
The awards ceremony was held at the prestigious Leathersellers’ Company Charitable Fund offices in the City of London on Thursday 7th March 2019.
It was an absolute privilege to be in a room full of such incredible, positive nominees – all working so hard, so tirelessly to fight for and protect the rights of others.
On behalf Naz and Matt Foundation’s Trustees, Volunteers and the community we serve I would like to thank the IKWRO judging panel for recognising our work, and a very special thank you to the wonderful Angelina J who put our charity forward to be considered for this award.
Matt set up the Naz and Matt Foundation in memory of his soulmate and fiancé, Naz, who passed away two days after being confronted about his sexuality by his religious parents. It was the first time that they knew their son was gay, in a relationship with Matt for 13 years and that they were planning to get married.
