We were delighted to be invited alongside our friends at Hidayah to deliver a second training workshop to Switchboard LGBT+ Helpline.
The subject of our training workshop centred around our core work at Naz and Matt Foundation, which is:
- Religious and cultural homophobia,
- LGBTQ+ honour based abuse,
- LGBTQ+ forced marriage and
- Conversion therapy.
We base our training and talks on the evidence collected and shared with us from nearly 1,000 individuals who have come to our charity for support.
Many of our clients are physically or emotionally abused by their parents when their sexual orientation or true gender identity is discovered.
It’s important for charities like ours to provide a comprehensive support service to vulnerable LGBTQ+ victims, and also to use our learnings to help try and prevent this happening to more people.
We’d like to thank Switchboard LGBT+ Helpline for the valuable work they do in the community
The Switchboard LGBT+ Helpline is a valuable resource for individuals who identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community. The helpline offers a confidential and non-judgmental space for individuals to talk about any issues or concerns they may have related to their sexual orientation or gender identity.
Trained volunteers are available to provide support, information, and advice on a wide range of topics, including coming out, relationships, mental health, and legal rights. The helpline is also a lifeline for many individuals who may feel isolated or alone, providing them with a sense of community and connection to others who share similar experiences. The Switchboard LGBT+ Helpline has been providing support since 1974 and continues to play a vital role in supporting the wellbeing and mental health of the LGBTQ+ community.
